It was an absolute tragedy. They had finally found true love. Their life was about to start. It wasn’t supposed to end.
And it didn’t.
But it did change dramatically.
That’s what happened when Delilah found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. An event—a gala—is attacked by Benham Parsa, a ruthless terrorist the NCIS team is investigating. The moment is surreal.
Waiting in the hospital room, a frantic Tim McGee has no idea what to expect. There’s nothing he can do; utterly helpless.
The usually-stoic Leroy Jethro Gibbs—in a seeming out-of-character, yet at the same time exactly what you’d expect, move—rushes to the hospital to be there with Tim.
In the midst of lots of fear and uncertainty, per usual, Gibbs has the prescription Tim needs: “Wait and see.”
That’s all he could do.
Sometimes, that’s all we can do. Wait and see. We don’t have to make this complicated. There are many times in your life this applies. I bet you’re thinking of them right now.
No need to be frantic. You probably can’t control it anyway. Wait and see.
It’s humbling, for sure. The idea that we’re not in control. But it’s nevertheless true.
The fact is you wouldn’t make it through a day on planet earth without the ability to trust other people. Trust is the highest currency.
Trust God. Trust others until they give a reason not to trust them. Without that basic pact, you won’t make it very far, and your skepticism will rob you of joy (and much more).
Wait and see.
